What is JOHSC?
The Workers Compensation Act requires that most Employers in the province have a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC).
Due to the number of staff and workers at UBC and the diversity of occupations and relative hazards, UBC has chosen to implement JOHSCs within all areas of the university.
A JOHSC is an advisory group consisting of workers and employers working together to improve occupational health and safety in their workplace. The JOHSC has a mandate to advise, assist and make recommendations on policy and procedures, which will improve health, safety, and personal security of all workers.
